Please note that Shacharit on Sunday Morning is at 8:00 AM.

RABBI'S MESSAGE

These last 16 days have been very challenging for me personally as I have Baruch Hashem been recovering from Covid -19.  First, I would like to thank all of the Doctors, nurses, and Medical professionals of our Shul community who have literally put their lives on the line to save others.  You are the pride of our community, and it is an honor to know you.  May Hashem continue to protect you from all harm, and may he reward you and your families with good health, and nachas. I would like to personally express my hakaras hatov to Rabbi Sharbat for all of his dedication and hard work as always but particularly while I was sick.  I would also like to thank our President Andrew Yolin, the various Vice Presidents, Esther Schultz, Ilan Rosenrauch, Esti and Jason Buskin, Seth Lyons, and Mitch Cohen for their selfless dedication to the Shul during this challenging period.

The Gemara in Maseches Pesachim explains that Shabbos is set, whereas the Yomim Tovim are all dependent on the decision of the Beis Din.  What the Gemara means is that Shabbos has been set as the seventh day of the week, since the creation of the world.  From the very first Shabbos until today, every seven days has culminated with Shabbos, the day of rest.  When it comes to the Yomim Tovim such as Pesach however, the determination of their celebration is based on the accuracy of witnesses testifying that they observed the new moon.  The calculation of the Holidays is solely based on the decision of man, as opposed to Shabbos which is set by Hashem.  The Bnei Yisaschar zt”l explains that this is one of the reasons that this Shabbos, the Shabbos before Pesach is called “Shabbos Hagadol”.  Shabbos is considered to be gadol, because of its inception and formulation, as opposed to Yom Tov which has a smaller level of holiness.  May we merit similar miracles on this Shabbos Hagadol to those experienced by our ancestors in Mitzrayim.

Good Shabbos!
