RABBI'S MESSAGE

Shabbos Chazon is upon us.  While Tisha B’Av begins immediately after Shabbos, the sanctity of the day of Shabbos itself remains unchanged. One may bathe in preparation for Shabbos using hot water. While one may not shave or take a haircut in preparation for Shabbos, one may cut their nails.  One is permitted to eat meat at all meals on Shabbos. Zemiros should be sung at all of the meals this Shabbos. One is permitted to learn Torah all day on Shabbos, although there are those who try to focus only on the laws of Tisha B’Av on Shabbos afternoon. There will be one Mincha minyan in the Main Shul on Shabbos afternoon at 5:45pm. One should eat Shalosh Seudos after Mincha.  The custom of eating a Seudah Mafsekes is omitted this year since Erev Tisha B’Av is on Shabbos, therefore one does not eat eggs or sit on the floor at Shalosh Seudos. One may sit on a regular chair until nightfall. Leather shoes may be worn all day until nightfall. The  FAST BEGINS at 8:25 PM. Please join me in the main shul at 8:45pm for “Thoughts on Tisha B’Av”.  Please note that if you are planning to attend the shiur at 8:45 PM, you need to bring your non-leather shoes to shul before Shabbos. Shabbos Ends at 9:15pm. Please recite “Baruch Hamavdil ben Kodesh L’chol” before driving to shul after 9:15pm. Maariv will be at 9:25pm, followed by Eicha.  As we mourn the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash together, may we merit to celebrate the “Binyan Yerushalayim” together speedily in our times.
