Shiloh Winery

One of my favorite wineries is the Shiloh winery in Israel.  Established in 2005, the winery overlooks the breathtaking Shiloh River and Samarian Hills in present day Shiloh.  Shiloh is just north of Jerusalem and southwest of Ariel.  I have been enjoying their wines for many years and have visited the winery in Israel several times.

The winemaker is the extremely talented and personable Amichai Lourie.  Under his guidance, Shiloh wines have been awarded gold medals and international recognition at the highest level. Amichai’s ability to work with many different varieties of grapes and styles of wine results in Shiloh consistently delivering exceptional vintages year after year.  I have had the privilege of hosting Amichai in my house and would highly recommend a visit to the winery in Shiloh.

They have a broad range of wines from the entry level Privilege all the way up to their flagship wines, the Mosaic and Mosaic Exclusive Edition.  They have something for everyone, whether you're looking for a wine to drink during the week, Shabbat meal or special occasion, there's a Shiloh for you.  All their wines are available at the wine sale, and it's definitely worth stocking up and holding on to these wines as they will definitely improve with age.

 Their wines include:

Privilege ($24) - This is their entry level red wine, aged for 6 months and perfect for any day of the week

Shor Series ($33) - These series comes in Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera.  These are all single variety wines aged for 15 months in French oak and delicious.  These are delicious wines that are also capable of aging with the Barbera often selling out quickly.

Legend Honi and Legend Fiddler ($40) - Two different blends aged for 15 months

Secret Reserve ($45) - There are six single variety wines in the reserve series, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Petite Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.  These are all fabulous wines, but in my last discussion with him last week, he singled out the Secret Reserve Shiraz as being truly amazing, so load up on this wine.

Mosaic ($70) - The flagship wine and a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for a period of 18 months in French oak barrels, and a truly exceptional wine.  Perfect for Shabbat but if it's a bit out of your price range, a definite special occasion wine.

In addition to the above, they also produce a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Rose.
