RABBI'S MESSAGE

The Gemara in Maseches Sotah tells that one the enactments of Rabban Yochannan Ben Zakai was that Kohanim must remove their shoes when going up to the duchan to give their blessing.  This enactment reflected the many enactments which focused on establishing practice that would remind the people of the Beis Hamikdash.  The Rebbi R’Heshel zt”l finds an allusion to this law in our Parsha with the appearance of the word “Halom” when Moshe is told to remove his shoes in the presence of the burning bush.  The word “halom” in Gematria is equal to the word Kohein.

-When there is a shock to the system, the system needs to heal.  The shocking events of this past Wednesday cause all of us to pause and take notice of what is happening around us.  As Torah Jews we have but two roles in this country; to pray for the peace of America, and to act as honorable and grateful citizens, making a Kiddush Hashem as we do so. We must be especially careful not to contribute to negative rhetoric and choose our words carefully.

Good Shabbos!

- Please help us plan for Purim by completing  this short survey  with your preferences for hearing megillah.

- Please be advised that Lester Senior Housing is no longer under the supervision of the Vaad of Metrowest.
