RABBI'S MESSAGE

The Tzror Hamor points out that no other holiday is named for the date on which a particular  event occurred.  Only the name of Chanukah is derived from its date.  The first half of the name “Chanu” means “they rested”.  The rest took place on the latter part of the name - “Kah” - the two letters kaf and heh have a numerical value of twenty five, corresponding to the 25th day of the month of Kislev, the day that we begin celebrating the holiday. The pasuk of Shma Yisrael which we recite three times daily has twenty five letters.  The Tzror Hamor explains that the celebration of Chanukah was based on the victory of the Chashmonaim who relied on their Emunah, their faith in Hashem, as is stated in Shma. May this Chanukah be a time for us to strengthen our faith as well.  Good Shabbos and Chanukah Sameach!
