RABBI'S MESSAGE

The Gemara tells us that one should be very careful not to run out of shul, as doing so is disrespectful. The only exception to this rule is if one is running to do something immediately, so that the person will be able to return to shul as quickly as possible.  Rebbi Tzadok Hakohein of Lublin zt”l observes that the Torah describes Yakov as leaving B’eer Sheva, but later describes him as moving with alacrity after his dream on Har Hamoriah.  What caused this change in his step?  Rebbi Tzadok explains that as Yakov left home, he had a considerable amount of concern as to whether he would be successful on all counts.  Once Hashem appeared to him in his dream, Yakov was reassured that he would return to Eretz Yisrael and could look forward to a great future for his descendants in the land.   The next morning he proceeded on his journey with a newfound sense of confidence and excitement.  We all wish that our success would be guaranteed when we begin a journey or endeavor in a new project.   While in our lives little appears certain, if we trust in Hashem we can remain confident that on a spiritual level, we are not alone on any of life's journeys. Good Shabbos!

  • In order to help ensure the health and safety of our community, we want to remind everyone of the critical importance of adhering to the calls for social distancing, including play dates or any innocuous get togethers.
