RABBI'S MESSAGE

What a week it has been.  The uncertainty is anxiety provoking.  Who knows what the news will bring over the next several days or weeks.  One thing is certain; both campaigns, while engaged in what is at stake at this moment, will have a time when they look back and wonder what they could have done differently to solidify more votes in each state.  They may be thinking about how often their candidate visited each state and how much money was spent on advertising geared toward potential voters.  As Lot and his family were moving further away from Sdom, they were told by the angels accompanying them to look up toward the mountain and not to look back. Rashi explains that the angels were encouraging Lot to look toward Avraham and relieve the impact of Sdom and its values  behind him.  Chazal remind us that this pasuk is a metaphor for life.  While we can learn from the past, it is important at a certain point to leave the past behind us and move forward with confidence.  We all hope that very soon our country can put this intense divisive period behind us and unite together into the future.
