RABBI'S MESSAGE

In Parshas Chukas we learn of the death of Miriam as well as the death of Aharon.  With the death of Miriam the Jewish people lost their source of water, which was the well of Miriam.  Rashi explains that with the death of Aharon, the people lost a leader who sought peace among them; particularly peace between husband and wife.  At the end of the Torah when we learn about the death of Moshe Rabbeinu, we are told that he was mourned by “Bnei Yisrael”, whereas here we are told that Aharon was mourned by “Kol Beis Yisroel”, the entirety of the people.  It would seem based on the interpretation of the pesukim that there was more of a mourning for Aharon than there was for Moshe.  This fact is striking, yet can be resolved by Rashi’s suggestion above.  The Imrei Emes zt”l offers another suggestion.  Moshe was able to prepare the people for his death by telling them that the end was near.  Aharon, however,  was taken from the people suddenly, without any warning.  When Moshe descended from the mountain without Aharon, the people were in disbelief, as Rashi explains they had to be shown an image of Aharon being taken away on a bed so that they would believe him.  We tend to react very differently to any situation, especially one that is stressful, when we have the opportunity to prepare ourselves for it.  When something happens suddenly our stress level tends to rise and many of us have a harding time functioning as a result.  A lesson we can derive from this Parsha is that life certainly sends us surprises of all types, when we have the ability to prepare, we should look at it as an opportunity and do so sufficiently.

There will be a coordinator for each service, who will act as a liaison for the service and the individual requesting it. If you are interested in joining this initiative, please fill out this form  https://forms.gle/gkMCuxWwSmwnNQsr7 or reach out to any of us at WOLivGives@gmail.com, with your name, contact information and the service you could provide pro-bono.

We look forward to working with you. If you have any questions on the above, please reach out to Fernand Schoppig  schoppig@fsassociates.comWe hope we can help those in need.
