RABBI'S MESSAGE
Rabbeinu Bachya finds it noteworthy that when Moshe begged forgiveness from Hashem for the sin of the spies, he did not use the same formula as he did when asking forgiveness for the sin of the golden calf. When it came to the Chet Haegel Moshe invoked the names of our forefathers in his plea, whereas in our Parsha their names are not mentioned in his request at all. Rabbeinu Bachya suggests that when the people sinned by speaking badly about the land of Israel, which was beloved to each of our forefathers, Moshe concluded that the merit of the forefathers in that regard would not have been successful. He therefore refrained from invoking the name of the avos in his plea for forgiveness. We can glean from this idea that when we are in a situation in which we have hurt someone and are trying to appease them, it is important to carefully calculate what we say before approaching the conversation. Words are powerful, and have the ability to de-escalate and unite, or escalate and cause greater division to a stressful situation.

The typical set-up for minyanim that we have grown accustomed to is likely to change, but we are working hard to ensure a safe and meaningful experience. To help us plan the best we can, please complete this very short survey by June 26th. Your answers are not a commitment to attend a given minyan or purchase seats in any way - your responses will only be used for planning purposes. - As the financial crisis deepens, the WO/Livingston Chesed Group is in the preliminary stages of launching an ambitious project that will try to ease the financial burden on those community members who are unemployed/underemployed. As we are blessed with many talented professionals in our community, we are compiling a list of individuals who would be willing to donate their services (e.g. medical, legal, financial, IT, therapy, etc). There will be a coordinator for each service, who will act as a liaison for the service and the individual requesting it. If you are interested in joining this initiative, please fill out this form https://forms.gle/gkMCux
WwSmwnNQsr7 or reach out to any of us at WOLivGives@gmail.com, with your name, contact information and the service you could provide pro-bono. - In an effort to assist individuals who are in need of job search support during this economic downturn, the Livingston and West Orange communities have revived the Jewish Job Network (JJN). JJN is an informal volunteer organization serving the Jewish community in our local area. The support includes guidance in resume writing, interviewing, career counseling, networking (including LinkedIn), starting a new business, learning how to consult and job retraining. If you are in need of assistance or if you are interested in volunteering, please go to JJN's website http://jewishjobnetwor
k.com . The volunteers we seek are people with knowledge/experience in the above areas, including those with contacts in their respective fields who will be able to connect job seekers for industry or position specific advice and potential job placement. We look forward to working with you. If you have any questions on the above, please reach out to Fernand Schoppig - schoppig@fsassociates.com. We hope we can help those in need.
