RABBI'S MESSAGE

In the beginning of our Parsha Aharon Hakohein is tasked and honored with lighting the menorah each day in the Mishkan. This past Tuesday afternoon I went into our Shul to get something from my office. I decided to walk into the main sanctuary as I had not been in the Heichal since the Shul closed. While our Shul was dark, the Ner Tamid resting on top of the Aron Kodesh was lit.I paused for a few moments and just reflected on how much has transpired since the last time we were all in the Shul together. It has been very long. This past week, we took the first steps on our road back home. We have once again been able to join together as a Kehilla for Tefilla, albeit not yet in our Shul. The backyard minyanim have worked out beautifully. Baruch Hashem our Shul membership has overwhelmingly abided by our safety guidelines. Although I know it is not conducive or practical long term, I have found that the requirement of six feet distance has allowed many of us to experience davening differently than we have in the past. When we have that distance, we are able to transcend into our own personal world, and for a few moments focus exclusively on the content of the siddur in our hands. The six feet separation has caused our backyard minyanim to be quiet, aside for the sound of Tefillah that should be heard during davening. I hope that we are able to use this experience to reinvigorate and recreate our personal davening experience with the tzibbur that we have missed over the last several months so badly. As we make our way closer to the Shul, let’s take with us the sound of Tefillah, the moments of silence and contemplation and with it the Kedusha that should continue to light the Ner Tamid of our Shul and our souls. Good Shabbos!

-Mazel Tov to all of our graduates.  It has been a very challenging year and a difficult end to what should have been a more celebratory and social period in your lives.  As you move on to the next stage of life, may Hashem bless you with good health and to overcome life's challenges with poise and strength so that you can succeed in all of your future endeavors.
