CHESED

Dear Members,

As members of Congregation AABJ&D, we are very blessed to be part of a large, thriving
community.   While we enjoy each other’s company at shul, classes and Shabbat meals, we also
want to be there for each other during major life events and other times of need.  We are
therefore forming a Sisterhood Chesed Project to coordinate all the various chesed needs that
arise throughout our community.  The Sisterhood Chesed Project will organize meals, arrange
for transportation and emergency babysitting, will set up phone chains, and will provide other
forms of support as they become necessary.   It does not matter if you have lived here for years
or if you just moved here last week, we want to make our resources available to you when and if
the need arises for you OR if you are aware of another shul member who needs our assistance..

We are here for you and we can support you (with discretion) in more ways then you might
imagine.   If you have particular needs, large or small, let us know.  If you have a major event in
your life and are not sure what you need, if anything, just let us know anyway.  Perhaps we will
think of things you don’t have the time to think about.  If you know of someone else in the
community with a need, please let us know.

This is especially important if you are new to the area.  We are eager to meet and welcome you
and you should know you have the support of your community, whatever your need.

Let Us Know If…

  • You have a baby
  • You or a family member have had surgery or are hospitalized
  • You are homebound for a while
  • There is a death in the family
  • You need transportation anywhere – to a doctor’s appointment, the grocery store, a hair
     salon or a shul activity
  • Your child needs a safe walk to shul on Shabbat when you cannot go
  • You could use a babysitter so you can go to shul on Shabbat or want to coordinate with
    another mom to switch off
  • You know someone who could use some company every now and then

Let Us Know If You Can Volunteer To…

  • Drive
  • Cook a meal
  • Visit someone at the hospital, Kessler, their home, etc.
  • Shop
  • Carpool
  • Escort kids to shul or baby sit on Shabbat
