    Welcome to Congregation  AABJ&D Sisterhood.

The Sisterhood of Congregation AABJ&D has played a vital and active role in the synagogue since its inception over 40 years ago. Through its many endeavors, it has greatly contributed to the growth of our shul and of the West Orange community. Sisterhood’s primary goal, besides offering a venue for women of all ages to socialize and show solidarity for one another, has been to help the shul financially by donating funds from its projects to beautify the Synagogue and enhance its operations.

Sisterhood’s many committees offer a variety of services to our shul community. We provide a warm welcome to our new members, arrange visits to those who are homebound or hospitalized, assist with meals during illness or during happy occasions such as childbirth.

Sisterhood events are a great way to get to know one another. Join us at our annual programs and events such as: the Harvest Dinner in the fall, Cafe night in the winter, the Hat Sale and Boutique in the spring and Donor Dinner in the early summer.

Throughout the year, Sisterhood is proud to help co-sponsor and defray the cost of family oriented programs, such as the Purim and Chanuka Parties. We also co-sponsor guest lecturers to enhance our learning experiences.

As mentioned earlier, Sisterhood's primary goal is to fundraise on behalf of the shul. We are pleased to report that our efforts contribute $30,000 plus to the shul budget. How do we do this? We have 3 major fundraising programs:
    1. Scrip sale (see below).
    2. Store Plan -- We have an arrangement with several of our local merchants whereby we turn in purchase receipts (from you) and we get a percentage of the sale back.   So save up your receipts from participating merchants and bring them to the shul office.
    3. Tribute cards. - Sisterhood will happily send a tribute card to mark a happy occasion or the loss of a loved one. Donations levels: $10 to $36. Please contact Gail Novick 973-736-9795 or Linda Schiffman 973-736-1992.  You may also purchase tribute cards from the shul office; 5 for $15 or 10 for $25.
    Membership is $36.
