Dear Parents,
We hope that you all had an enjoyable and restful summer and are ready for a fantastic year with the AABJ&D Youth Department. Our terrific youth leaders are back and ready for action. Below is a breakdown of groups for this coming year:
In addition, we wish to clarify the following items as they relate to Shabbat groups:
Children in Story Hour through 3rd grade must be picked up by an adult or an older sibling promptly at 11:30 AM. No child below this age will be discharged from groups to anyone else other than the above. Children in 3rd grade are allowed to leave groups alone only if this is pre-arranged with the Youth Director.
Teen Minyan begins at 9:30 AM and will be followed by a cholent Kiddush at the Kirschner's home. Teen minyan is an experience designed especially for our 6th-12th graders. As such, we ask that parents please daven in a different minyan unless there is a special occasion.
If you have a child in Nursery-12th grade who will be attending our Shabbat morning programming, we ask that you please fill out a registration form. With safety in mind, it is particularly important that we know where parents can be found during the program and which participants have allergies.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation with regard to the above guidelines and look forward to seeing your children in groups this year!
Sincerely,
Chanie Kirschner, Youth Director
Craig Goldman and Charlie Feldman, Youth committee co-chairs.

Dear Parents of AABJD Preschoolers,
As the summer draws to a close, we are excited to announce that Minyan Katan will be continuing during the upcoming school year. As many of you know, Minyan Katan engages some of our youngest congregants in an exciting hour of tefilah, kiddush, and parsha activities and serves as a foundation for a lifetime of involvement in synagogue life. It has been carefully prepared to meet the developmental needs of 3-5 year olds and will be led by a rotation of experienced educators from our community.
Minyan Katan will begin on September 10th and will be held on a weekly basis. Children will participate in approximately thirty minutes of tefilah and songs, followed by a parsha activity, Kiddush, and story. Children are encouraged to bring one item for which they are thankful to share for Show and Tell.
Minyan Katan will run from 10:30 to 11:30. A high school leader will be present for 30 minutes prior to the start of the program to supervise those who arrive early. We would appreciate if parents would please accompany their children to the story-hour room and would pick them up promptly at 11:30. While this is a drop-off program, we welcome parent participation. If you choose to attend with your child, please be prepared to participate fully.
If you have any questions, please contact Shira Hammerman at minyankatan@gmail.com. We look forward to singing with your children throughout the school year!
Thank You,
The Minyan Katan Committee

Cub Scout Pack 446 is affiliated with Congregation AABJ&D. The Cub Scouts meet approximately two Sunday mornings a month for about an hour during the school year to participate in fun and educational activities to satisfy advancement requirements. If your son is interested in joining the Cub Scouts, please contact Josh Cantor, Reuben Ehrlich, or Stuart Rosenblum.
