Rabbi’s Message:

In a number of places in Shas we find reference to Tavi the servant of Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel. In the midrash on this week's parsha, a story about Tavi appears once again. The Midrash Rabbah explains that Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel asked Tavi to go to the market and buy something good
for him to eat. Tavi returned with a piece of tongue. Another time Rabban Shimon asked Tavi to go to the market and buy him something bad. Tavi returned again with a piece of tongue. Rabban Shimon then asked Tavi, "How
could it be that I asked you to buy something good and bad and you brought me the same thing?"Tavi answered that "Tongue is unique because when it's good there is nothing better and when it is bad there is nothing worse". Parshas Metzora speaks of the skin disease which we are told comes from Lashon Hara, evil speech. The tongue is the secret to quality of life. May we learn to use it properly. Good Shabbos!

Rabbi Eliezer Zwickler

The danger that Israel and the Jewish people face today is frightening.  It is our responsibility as Jews to make sure that our voices are heard. It is incumbent upon us to teach our children and grandchildren that we cannot sit idly by when those who wish to destroy our people speak loudly and freely.  We as members of Am Yisrael are obliged to speak up and support our brethren in the State of Israel. I have compiled a list of elected officials that we should contact in expression of support for Israel and concern for her safety.  It is extremely important to reach out to these officials together with our children in order to imbue within them this responsibility and opportunity.  May we continue to daven, learn Torah, and observe mitzvos in the merit of Hashem protecting his people and his land.

Tuesday Women’s Chumash Class 10 AM

Rabbi Zwickler and class will focus on the weekly Parsha.  Concepts are developed and discussed by combining various texts and ideas connected to the weekly Parsha while linking these thoughts to a hashkafic understanding of how the Parsha contains lessons that can impact our daily lives.

Lunch and Learn

This monthly gathering at an office in Manhattan or New Jersey allows for individuals to learn Torah with Rabbi Zwickler while enjoying their lunch hour.  Contact Dov Slonim for more information as well as dates and times.

Wednesday Gemara Class

This year Rabbi Zwickler will lead us in learning Hilchos Shabbos.  This shiur will be a text based learning of the Gemara connected with various laws that apply to Shabbos.  We will journey through the primary sources and conclude how these laws are instituted and discussed on a practical weekly level through the eyes of contemporary Poskim.  Please bring a Gemara -Maseches Shabbos.
