President’s Message  

Welcome to our Shul, Congregation Ahawas Achim B’nai Jacob & David, the largest Orthodox Synagogue in Essex County, New Jersey.  I hope you will find our web site to be informative and that it will provide you with a flavor of the vitality of our Synagogue. 

We have daily minyanim for Shacharit, Mincha and Maariv, daily learning groups and five minyanim on Shabbat mornings.  In addition we have programs ranging from Nursery School to our “Together on Tuesdays” program for our seniors.  Under the guidance of our spiritual leaders, Rabbi Eliezer Zwickler, Rabbi Emeritus Alvin Marcus and our new Assistant Rabbi Daniel Rockoff, our members continue to strive for greater observance and closeness to Hashem.  We are a Shul of caring people that perform acts of chesed (kindness) to friends and neighbors in need as well as those outside of our community.  We also feel great solidarity to our brethren in Israel and have an annual fundraising drive in their behalf.  We have café nights and other social programs to foster a warm and friendly environment. 

This is but a small sample of what our Shul has to offer.  Our hospitality committee would be happy to arrange for any out of town family to spend a shabbos with us.  Please feel free to contact our Executive Director, Anne Goldberg, with any questions you may have.
