High Holidays
The Yomim Noraim set the spiritual and emotional tone in our shul and in our lives for the year. We are fortunate to have Rabbi Zwickler, Rabbi Klein and Rabbi Dvir as spiritual leaders along with all of our wonderful Baalei Tfillah to enhance our davening.
Each of us is able to have a most meaningful Yomim Noraim experience because of a number of dedicated volunteers on the House, Ritual, Seating, Security and Youth committees who work tirelessly on behalf of our shul. Specifically, the seating committee, which will once again be ably chaired by Carol Goldberg and Meyer Reichman, will be spending countless hours trying to figure out how to seat nearly 1,000 people. In consideration of the amount of effort that will be required to accomplish this, please return the seating application ASAP . Your cooperation and flexibility is greatly appreciated. I’d like to thank Carol, Meyer and their committee in advance for all of the hard work I know they will be doing.
Please be advised that all members are requested to bring their shul account up to date. In the event of a financial hardship, please speak with Anne Goldberg, Larry Schiffman, Joel Rich or Jeff Braverman. All discussions will be held in the strictest confidence.
Many thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation and understanding. Best wishes to you and your families happy, healthy and enjoyable summer.
GUIDELINES 2010 HIGH HOLIDAYS SEATING
1. Applications will be processed and seat assignments will be made on June 30, 2010 for all members who satisfy the following requirements.
(a) Application with accompanying payment for seats received by the Shul by 6/30/10
(b) Members with past due accounts (amounts billed prior to 6/1/10) must either
I. Pay your past due account in full or
II. Speak to our Executive Director (Anne Goldberg) or a member of the hardship and collections committee (Larry Schiffman or Joel Rich) to make alternate payment arrangements.
Failure to satisfy these requirements could result in loss of priority for seat assignments in 2010. Applications submitted without payment and/or resolution of past due accounts will not be processed, and will be returned to the applicant.
2. Priority for seat assignment (where priority includes the allocation of seat and a preference for the same or similar locations as the previous year) will be given as follows for applications satisfying the above requirements.
(a) Members & their families (including visiting extended family) who had seats in 2009.
(b) Members & their families (including visiting extended family) who did not have seats in 2009.
(c) Non-family guests of members visiting for the High Holidays who had seats in 2009.
(d) Non-family guests of members visiting for the High Holidays who did not have seats in 2009.
(e) Non-members living in West Orange.
If there are more applications for any of the above priority ranking categories than available seats, we will allocate seats on the basis of a lottery.
3. Seats will not be sold to children below 4th grade.
4. Members who buy seats for purposes of retaining their priority ranking in future years and do not attend during either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur, may not give their seats to others. The Shul will ask permission to use such seats for the year for people for whom seats are not available.
5. CHILDREN IN ISRAEL OPTION: If your child will be attending Yeshiva in Israel, an option to retain the child’s seats for future years at a special rate is available. See chart on application. This seat, however, will be used as needed by the Shul during the current year.
