Krav Maga at AABJD starting in February
Date: July 30, 2011
8:30 am
Dr. Eitan Savir is planning to resume Krav Maga instruction at A.A.B.J.&D on Thursday nights (8:30pm). Krav Maga is a pure and practical form of hand to hand combat and self defense, with an emphasis on disarming conventional weapons and neutralizing modern-day physical threats. Krav Maga was developed in Israel for use by the IDF and security forces, at a time when the fledgling IDF needed to compensate for a lack of munitions and firepower. As an eclectic system that combines elements of boxing, kick-boxing, wrestling and ju-jitsu, Krav Maga has been constantly refined and modernized to meet today's challenges. Today, Krav Maga is one of the most popular fighting techniques taught to police and security forces around the world.
Eitan has been a black belt for over 25 years, and was one of the original black belts who trained under the system's founder, Imi Lichtenfeld. He has an extensive military and security background, and has taught Krav Maga for many years, including as a chief instructor to special units within the Israeli Police and Security Forces. In addition to his dedication to the art, he is firmly committed to the greater Jewish Community at large, and we are fortunate to have this opportunity within our community. Eitan has previously taught Krav Maga locally at a number of locations, including A.A.B.J.D.
Although the proposed classes are intended to cover all levels and most ages of instruction, Eitan will need to gauge interest levels. Classes are scheduled to kick off on Thursday, February 4, 2010, with an informational session / class, and all are encouraged to attend. If you have further questions or are interested, please attend the kick-off class on Febuary 4th.
